OLIVE OIL

Olive oil is a vegetable oil mainly for culinary use, although it is also used for other purposes: cosmetic, medicinal, religious and for oil lamps.

It is obtained from the fruit of the olive tree, which in Spanish can be called “oliva” or “aceituna”. Almost one third of the pulp of the olive is oil. For this reason, since ancient times it has been easily extracted with a simple pressure exerted by a press, after being grinded with a mill.

In the present, the olive oil manufacturing process is done industrially and five main steps stand out: collection, cleaning and washing, grinding, mixing the paste and centrifugation.
